Trasquera

The name of Trasquera reveals a lot of stories: it is derived from the Latin “Trans” and the pre-Roman word “Kar” which, together, mean “beyond the cliffs”.

Alternatively, the name could have Spanish origins, with the meaning of “entrance to the meadows”.

Today, Trasquera is a small alpine village at 1,096 m above sea level, surrounded by chestnut forests on the slopes of Monte Teggiolo with exceptional views over the Weissmies group of mountains and the Andolla chain.

The Romanesque Santa Maria Maddalena church and the ‘Devil’s Bridge’ are two particular highlights of a visit to Trasquera.
