Back in the summer of 2009, the small alpine village of San Domenico underwent a complete rebirth. It all began with the idea of creating a destination for people who really love the mountains and, above all, the unspoiled, tranquil, stress-free outdoors. Today, San Domenico has taken shape and the project embodies environmental sustainability and protection of the environment, a project which is continuously growing and evolving.

Milestones

2009.

foundation

The companies were set up and San Domenico was launched!

2010.

works

Rifugio 2000 and the ski lifts are refurbished and safety nets installed.

2011.

unveiling

Hotel Cuccini and the new ski lifts reopen, the new offices are unveiled.

2012.

new developments

The new 4-seat chairlift arrives and the lighting system for nighttime skiing is introduced.

2013.

facilities

Installation of the new 4-seat Ciamporino-Dosso chairlift with a middle station, construction of a new bar/mountain hut at 2,500 m, the ski school and the equipment hire building.

2014.

snowmaking

The new low environmental impact artificial snowmaking system is installed and a new car park is created.

2015.

car parking

Construction of a new low environmental impact underground car park with 450 spaces and installation of a new Porsche Design chairlift.

2016.

sandobus

The adventure park and children’s play area open, 15 km of footpaths are restored and the Sandobus is launched.

2017.

footpaths

20 km of footpaths are restored, also suitable for mountain bikes, and the Alpe Devero ski lifts are added to the family.

2018.

bike park

Launch of Sando Bike Park, the new Ciamporino ski run and refurbishment of Hotel Cuccini.

2019.

eating out

Opening of the new La Vetta hotel and Terrarossa and Stube restaurants, the new snowshoe and ski touring route from San Domenico to Alpe Ciamporino is unveiled.

2020.

on the pistes

The new 100 m long covered moving carpet lift is installed, the sledging/tobogganing track with night-time lighting is launched.

2021.

wellness

Improvements are made to the Alpe Ciamporino pistes, creation of relaxation, fitness & wellness areas and upgrade of the webcam system.

2022.

events

The MTB trails are widened, improvements are made to the mobile phone coverage, and the first mountain running world championships are hosted on the San Domenico-Dosso course.

2023.

gondola lift

Work begins on the San Domenico-Alpe Ciamporino gondola lift, equipped with super-panoramic 8-seat Porsche Design cabins.

2024.

communications

New marketing and communications plan, new web portal unveiled.
